Internship Description
We offer a unique and interesting opportunity to gain insight and experience into youth climate leadership training, sustainable travel, and ecotourism in the Dominican Republic. We seek a candidate that can assist with researching the legal process and requirements for nonprofit formation and board formation and management, conducting interviews and focus groups with private school educators and students, researching corporations that fund youth travel, nature immersion, climate action, women-owned businesses, and assisting with administrative tasks. We are looking for an intern to support us with the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
· Support with community outreach activities such as attending and speaking at meetings, tabling, and fliering, among others
· Support with administrative tasks related to creating social media posts, fliers, PowerPoint presentations, researching and contacting corporations, and writing corporate sponsorship letters
· Create a database of contacts for relevant youth led initiatives, community-based organizations, private high schools, educators, community boards, elected officials, libraries, universities, and industry events
· Create a database of contacts of corporations that support women owned businesses, youth travel, and climate action
· Research best practices for non-profit formation and board member recruitment and management and create a memo with a synthesis of the process, recommendations, and stakeholders.
· Create a database of contacts for private high schools in New York City and the tri-state area that offer travel programs for high school youth.
· Create a roster of youth and educator empathy interviews to gather information to inform future marketing, program development, student engagement, curriculum design, and the internal processes and timelines of each school for taking youth abroad.
· Conduct stakeholder engagement via email, phone, videoconferencing programs to design nature tours, NYC based youth climate programming that support the environment, culture, and local economies, and other sustainability education services for our clients.
· Compile a synthesis of results from interviews, focus groups, and surveys to provide recommendations on best practices and processes when engaging private high schools for youth travel programs, corporations, youth activists, and sustainability stakeholders
