We offer a unique and interesting opportunity to gain insight and experience into youth climate leadership training, sustainable travel, and nature and cultural immersion abroad. 

Journalism and Communications Internship Description

As a Journalism and Communication Intern, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our storytelling and communication strategies, helping to inspire global audiences to engage in sustainable travel and climate action.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Content Creation: Create videos and social media posts, reels, stories, and carrousels and write compelling blog articles, and newsletters that highlight Globetrotting Dominicana's story, mission, and activities.

Campaign Development: Plan, create, and execute tailored communication campaigns backed by market research to promote programs, events, and initiatives.

Newsletter and Blog Management: Research content to write and manage regular newsletters and blog posts, ensuring that they provide value, are engaging, and align with branding.

Social Media Strategy: Develop content calendars, post across platforms, and engage with followers to build community and awareness.

Market Research: Identify trends and gather market insights to inform communication strategies and reach target audiences.


Qualifications

● Excellent writing, video-editing, and storytelling skills.

● Proficiency with social media platforms and tools (Instagram, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn).

● Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator) and/or video editing (Capcut, Adobe Premiere) is a plus.

● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

● Passion for sustainable development, climate action, tourism, and cultural exchange.

● Familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and WordPress is preferred


 Work Schedule: This role is available from Monday to Friday. Hours are flexible. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.  


Location: This position is mostly remote but occasional in-person events will be communicated in advance 

Community Outreach and Partnership Development Internship Description

 

Internship

This internship offers valuable experience in community engagement, partnership building, and strategic outreach. As a Community Outreach and Partnership Development Intern, you will be at the forefront of establishing and managing meaningful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to advance Globetrotting Dominicana’s mission.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Event Research & Participation: Identify and attend relevant events, conferences, and community gatherings; coordinate registration and represent Globetrotting Dominicana at these events to promote our mission and services.

Client Recruitment: Engage with potential clients at events and through outreach efforts, presenting Globetrotting Dominicana’s unique offerings and building interest in our programs.

Relationship Building: Cultivate relationships with corporate and community stakeholders, including elected officials, schools, universities, nonprofits, and local organizations.

Outreach Campaigns: Develop and implement outreach and marketing strategies to enhance our community presence and expand our network of supporters.

Database Management: Maintain an organized database of partners, event contacts, and potential leads for future collaborations.

Corporate Engagement: Identify corporations that align with our mission, conduct outreach, and assist in writing sponsorship proposals and partnership agreements.

Workshop and Training Coordination: Help design and coordinate workshops and training sessions tailored to the needs of private schools, nonprofits, and other partners.

Meetup Coordination: Organize 3 seasonal meetups for NYC based traveler to build community and amplify our reach.
 


Qualifications

● Proficiency in Spanish and evening and weekend availability are a must. 

● Ability to travel throughout NYC for events is a must.

● Strong communication and public speaking skills.

● Ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders, including clients, partners, and community leaders.

● Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

● Interest in sustainable development, tourism, climate action, education, or related fields.

● Experience with outreach or event coordination is a plus.

● Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite is preferred

Corporate Sponsorships and Market Research Internship Description

 

 This internship offers hands-on experience in corporate engagement and sponsorship development, market research, and partnership building. As a Corporate Sponsorships and Market Research Intern, you will help identify and research potential funders, clients, conduct customer discovery and corporate engagement to support Globetrotting Dominicana’s mission. 


Duties and Responsibilities: 


Corporate and Funder Research: Identify corporations, foundations, and other potential funders whose values align with our mission. Create a database of leads and relevant funding opportunities.  Corporate Engagement: Conduct outreach to corporations and potential funders via email, phone, and video calls. Sometimes in -person engagement may be needed.  


Administrative: Support in sending sponsorship emails and crafting PowerPoint presentations for corporate and community stakeholders.  


Partnership Development: Research groups of parents, travelers, membership groups, libraries and other spaces where potential clients congregate. Support in developing strategies to engage these groups via trainings or events.  


Feedback Collection: Support in gathering insights from schools, parents, travelers, and youth groups via customer discovery activities, to understand their needs and priorities, to inform curriculum development and marketing and collaboration strategies. 


Market Analysis: Support in researching competitors and market trends in international education and cultural and nature travel to identify new opportunities for sponsorships, clients, collaborations, marketing, content creation, service delivery, and curriculum development.   


Qualifications  

● Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail.  

● Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with diverse stakeholders.  

● Ability to draft professional correspondence and presentations.  

● Proactive and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.  

● Interest in sustainability, climate action, education, tourism, or community development.  

● Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.   


Intern Will Learn: 


Corporate research and engagement 

Customer discovery via focus groups, surveys, interviews, observation and ethnographic research 

Market research in cultural and nature travel and youth travel abroad

Digital Solutions Intern – Computer Science Focus

  

We are seeking a motivated Computer Science intern to assist in enhancing our digital presence and optimizing our technological platforms. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainable tourism and environmental education, coupled with technical expertise to support our initiatives.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Website Development and Maintenance: Assist in updating and maintaining our  website to ensure a user-friendly experience.

Blog Integration & Content Management: Develop and integrate a blog  page to highlight our programs, tours, and sustainability efforts.  Transferring existing blog content to the website is a high priority.

AI-Powered Social Media & Digital Marketing: Utilize AI tools to help manage  social media, generate blogs and news articles, and create marketing and  sales plans.

Content Creation for Social Media: Develop social media campaigns and engaging  content for reels, carousels, and stories.

Video Editing: Edit videos for promotional content and social media use.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Implement SEO strategies to improve website visibility and attract potential partners and participants.

Technical  Support: Provide technical assistance for virtual programs and workshops as needed.

Administrative Support:  Assist with scheduling, organizing files, responding to emails, tracking  digital assets, and performing other administrative tasks as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related      field.
  • Proficiency in web development languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and digital marketing tools.
  • Experience or interest in AI applications in marketing and content generation.
  • Strong  problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent  communication and teamwork abilities.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Background  in video editing software (e.g., Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro,  CapCut).
  • Interest in sustainable tourism and environmental issues.

Interns should be able to commit a minimum of to 10-15 hours per week. 

You are welcome to apply at any time. We will review submissions and contact applicants

soon for the respective term regarding our application review, interview, and selection

process. We welcome interns who are university students, youth activists, climate and nature

enthusiasts, travel lovers, and others. There are no limitations around age, background, etc.


Internship Terms 

Compensation: This position is volunteer. 

  • If you are applying via the Colin Powell Career Fellows Paid Internships Program, you may be eligible for a stipend provided by the Colin Powell School. The rate provided is $18/hr for up to 300 internship hours.
  • If applying through the Medgar Evers NYC Tech Talent Pipeline Residency you may qualify for a 10-week PAID internship for 35 hours a week at $20/hour 
  • If applying through New York University you may be eligible to secure a stipend for unpaid internships
  •  If applying via Brown University, you may be eligible for a stipend via their SPRINT Fellowships program

Whether you would like to work on a specific project and have a particular skill set to offer, or would just like to get involved, please let us know! If you decided to volunteer there is no financial compensation but your time may be applied toward a discount for future Youth Climate Leadership Trainings
