We offer a unique and interesting opportunity to gain insight and experience into youth climate leadership training, sustainable travel, and ecotourism in the Dominican Republic. We are seeking to fill three internship positions: Journalism and Communications Intern, Community Outreach and Partnership Development Intern, and Corporate Sponsorship and Market Research Intern.
As a Journalism and Communication Intern, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our storytelling and communication strategies, helping to inspire global audiences to engage in sustainable travel and climate action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Creation: Create videos and social media posts, reels, stories, and carrousels and write compelling blog articles, and newsletters that highlight Globetrotting Dominicana's story, mission, and activities.
Campaign Development: Plan, create, and execute tailored communication campaigns backed by market research to promote programs, events, and initiatives.
Newsletter and Blog Management: Research content to write and manage regular newsletters and blog posts, ensuring that they provide value, are engaging, and align with branding.
Social Media Strategy: Develop content calendars, post across platforms, and engage with followers to build community and awareness.
Market Research: Identify trends and gather market insights to inform communication strategies and reach target audiences.
Qualifications
● Excellent writing, video-editing, and storytelling skills.
● Proficiency with social media platforms and tools (Instagram, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn).
● Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator) and/or video editing (Capcut, Adobe Premiere) is a plus.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Passion for sustainable development, climate action, tourism, and cultural exchange.
● Familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and WordPress is preferred
Internship
This internship offers valuable experience in community engagement, partnership building, and strategic outreach. As a Community Outreach and Partnership Development Intern, you will be at the forefront of establishing and managing meaningful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to advance Globetrotting Dominicana’s mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Event Research & Participation: Identify and attend relevant events, conferences, and community gatherings; coordinate registration and represent Globetrotting Dominicana at these events to promote our mission and services.
Client Recruitment: Engage with potential clients at events and through outreach efforts, presenting Globetrotting Dominicana’s unique offerings and building interest in our programs.
Relationship Building: Cultivate relationships with corporate and community stakeholders, including elected officials, schools, universities, nonprofits, and local organizations.
Outreach Campaigns: Develop and implement outreach and marketing strategies to enhance our community presence and expand our network of supporters.
Database Management: Maintain an organized database of partners, event contacts, and potential leads for future collaborations.
Corporate Engagement: Identify corporations that align with our mission, conduct outreach, and assist in writing sponsorship proposals and partnership agreements.
Workshop and Training Coordination: Help design and coordinate workshops and training sessions tailored to the needs of private schools, nonprofits, and other partners.
Qualifications
● Proficiency in Spanish and evening and weekend availability are a must.
● Ability to travel throughout NYC for events is a must.
● Strong communication and public speaking skills.
● Ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders, including clients, partners, and community leaders.
● Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
● Interest in sustainable development, tourism, climate action, education, or related fields.
● Experience with outreach or event coordination is a plus.
● Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite is preferred
This internship offers hands-on experience in corporate sponsorship development, market research, and partnership building. As a Corporate Sponsorships and Market Research Intern, you will help identify funding opportunities and build strategic relationships to support Globetrotting Dominicana’s mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Corporate and Funder Research: Identify corporations, foundations, and other potential funders whose values align with our mission. Create a database of leads and relevant funding opportunities.
Partnership Development: Build relationships with private schools, nonprofits, and churches, presenting opportunities for collaboration through career fairs, parent meetings, workshops, and educational programs.
Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct outreach to corporations and potential funders via email, phone, and video calls.
Feedback Collection: Gather insights from schools, parents, nonprofits, and churches to understand their needs and priorities, incorporating feedback into marketing and collaboration strategies.
Proposal Development: Assist in crafting sponsorship proposals, partnership agreements, and presentations for corporate and community stakeholders.
Market Analysis: Research market trends to identify new opportunities for sponsorships, clients, collaborations, and program expansion.
Qualifications
● Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
● Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
● Ability to draft professional correspondence, sponsorship proposals, and presentations.
● Proactive and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
● Interest in sustainability, climate action, education, tourism, or community development.
● Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Internship Terms
6 month commitment
Compensation: This position is volunteer. If you are applying via the Colin Powell Career
Fellows Paid Internships Program, you may be eligible for a stipend provided by the Colin
Powell School. The rate provided is $18/hr for up to 300 internship hours.
